The British Insurance and Investment Brokers? Association (BIIBA) is now known as the British Insurance Brokers? Association (BIBA). The association was established to represent the interests of both insurance brokers and intermediaries and those of consumers in the UK. BIBA is the voice of the UK insurance brokers? industry ? and as such advises all interested and involved parties on regulations, training and also takes responsibility for raising and maintaining standards.
Founded in 1977, BIBA initially just represented independent insurance brokers. In 1998 the association took on the Independent Financial Advisors sector as well and, at that point, became known as the British Insurance and Investment Brokers? Association. Since then, Independent Financial Advisors have moved to BIBA?s sister organisation the IFA and the BIBA name was reinstated in 1999. Most of the membership are regulated advisors with a commitment to giving professional advice and services with a focus on customer service.
